Curtis Returns -- Will Lead USA Chiba Ekiden Team on November 23rd



After fighting achilles and other injuries most of the fall season, Bobby Curtis will return to action shorty in Japan. The Team USA squad has been finalized for the 2010 International Chiba Ekiden, USA Track & Field announced on Thursday. The 22nd annual event will be held Tuesday, November 23 in Chiba, Japan. In addition to Team USA, the marathon relay will feature teams from nine nations including, host Team Japan, Kenya, Romania, Russia, China and Canada.

Past members of the Chiba squad, Ed Moran (Williamsburg, Va.), and Meghan Armstrong (Minneapolis, Minn.) will lead the team that includes Bobby Curtis (Ardmore, Pa.), Aaron Braun (Flagstaff, Ariz.), Kim Conley (West Sacramento, Calif.), and Stephanie Pezzullo (Charlotte, N.C.).

Team alternates will be Andy Biladeau (Charlottesville, Va.) and Kristina Vegh (Flagstaff, Ariz.).

The race features mixed teams of men and women running six alternating legs totaling 42.195 km as follows: 1st leg, Men 5 km; 2nd leg, Women 5 km; 3rd leg, Men 10 km; 4th leg, Women 5 km; 5th leg, Men 10 km; 6th leg, Women 7.195 km. Team USA finished fifth in the event last year.
